Space Struggles and Pastel Power
The latest broadcast of Topio’s Straw Hat Station was a massive treat for everyone following the Portrait.Of.Pirates line. It felt like a cozy hangout with fellow collectors, especially during the fan mail segment. It turns out we all share the exact same struggles—specifically the never-ending battle for shelf space. Hearing stories about high-end figures staying trapped in their boxes because there simply isn’t room to breathe is a reality many of us know all too well. When you are dealing with the massive footprint of the P.O.P line, every centimeter is precious real estate.
The Great MAXIMUM Debate: Do We Really Need a Base-Form Luffy?
One particular fan wishlist item from the broadcast sparked some strong thoughts: a request for a base-form, un-transformed Luffy in the MAXIMUM series. Honestly, that idea is a bit disappointing. We already have an absolute abundance of Luffy figures flooding the market in every imaginable pose. Considering how much physical display space a MAXIMUM figure demands, that branding should really be reserved for the most important characters and larger-than-life designs. Using up that premium scale for a standard look feels like a missed opportunity when we could be getting heavy hitters that haven’t had their time in the spotlight yet.
Jewelry Bonney: The Most Free Future is an Aesthetic Triumph
The broadcast gave us some incredible close-up looks at the Jewelry Bonney (Most Free Future) figure from the Evolutionary History line. The aesthetics on this piece are a total win. The pastel gradients in pink and blue, combined with those translucent clear resin effects, give her a radiant, godly vibe that perfectly captures the Nika influence. The sculpt is a beautiful balance of soft features and powerful energy. A standout detail is definitely the interchangeable tearful faceplate, which adds a level of emotional depth that makes the figure feel like it was ripped straight from the most emotional moments of the Egghead arc.
Gear 5 Luffy: Dynamic Freedom in Plastic
We also got a refined look at the Evolutionary History Gear 5 Luffy pre-order. This sculpt is all about dynamic, free-flowing movement, capturing the chaotic energy of the Warrior of Liberation flawlessly. The attention to detail is staggering—especially the meticulous texture work sculpted into the clothing and the intricate weaving on the underside of his iconic straw hat. While it isn’t a MAXIMUM release, the presence it commands is undeniable. The pearlized finish on the clouds and hair helps catch the light in a way that makes the whole figure look like it is constantly in motion.
Elevated Boost: Sailing Toward Elbaf
To wrap things up, the World P.O.P Newspaper segment officially teased the ELB (Elevated Boost) series. While the Elevated Boost name sounds fancy, the hints dropped by the hosts make the destination pretty obvious. Just as EH stood for Egghead, ELB is clearly for Elbaf. The logo reveal basically confirms that we are sailing straight into the land of giants for the next phase of the P.O.P collection. It is an exciting time to be a collector, even if our shelves are already screaming for mercy. Seeing MegaHouse continue to push the boundaries of the Evolutionary History aesthetic while looking toward the next major arc keeps the hype at an all-time high. Are you ready to clear out some space for these upcoming releases, or are you holding out for the first ELB reveals? Let me know your display strategies and if you think we really need more Luffys in the MAXIMUM line.
