Another Anniversary, Another Repaint
Welcome back to the blog! Today, we are taking a look at the Nami Ver.BB_3rd Anniversary - P.O.P Limited Edition. If you feel a sudden sense of déjà vu, you are certainly not alone. This piece is actually the third out of four different color variants based on the original Nami Ver.BB_02 - P.O.P Limited Edition sculpt. While the Bathing Beauty series has given us some incredible additions over the years, it is hard not to feel a bit of repaint fatigue looking back at this era of releases. Megahouse definitely leaned heavily into reusing this mold to pad out the schedule, which might leave some longtime collectors feeling a bit underwhelmed. Still, let us take a closer look at what this specific anniversary edition brings to the table.
Familiar Curves and a Playful Smirk
Since the core sculpt remains entirely unchanged, we get the exact same kneeling pose with Nami glancing back over her shoulder wearing that confident, playful smirk. She is still playfully tugging at the hem of her cropped t-shirt, offering a teasing glimpse of her underbust. The physical details are admittedly well-crafted, from the flowing strands of her high ponytail to the smooth arch of her back. Her signature pinwheel and tangerine tattoo sits exactly where you expect it on her left shoulder. It is undeniably a great sculpt, even if we have already seen it several times before.
Matte Black and Golden Details
The main draw of this release is, of course, the new paint application. For this third anniversary edition, Nami is sporting a matte black t-shirt and matching bikini bottoms, providing a very stark contrast against her pale skin. The skin tones feature some soft shading around her midriff and lower back, adding a bit of depth to the curves. To give it a slightly more premium feel, the strings on her bikini bottoms and the emblem printed across her chest are finished in a metallic gold. Her vibrant orange hair features some subtle lighter gradients, tying the whole alternate color scheme together nicely.
A Deep Blue Display
As expected with these repaints, there are no alternative pieces, extra accessories, or alternate display options to speak of here. What you see is exactly what you get. She rests on a translucent, deep blue circular base that features elegant white swirling motifs. The base is also stamped with the Ver.BB 3rd Anniversary text to commemorate the release. The water-like effect of the blue acrylic does look quite nice and fits the beach theme perfectly, providing a solid, if unsurprising, foundation for the figure.
Final Thoughts & A Little Extra Heat
Ultimately, the Nami Ver.BB_3rd Anniversary figure is a bit of a mixed bag. If you completely missed out on the original release or the previous color variants, this is a solid way to add a highly detailed and alluring Nami to your shelf. However, if you already own one of the other versions, there really is not enough new here to justify double-dipping. For those who do appreciate the daring nature of this sculpt, regardless of how many times it has been printed, we have something special for you. An exclusive gallery featuring much more lewdish content and spicier photography angles of this familiar teasing pose is available right now over on our Patreon. Feel free to check it out if you want to explore this figure in a bold new way. Until next time, keep your collections growing!
