[ZOOM!] Bellmer - P.O.P Playback Memories

P.O.P Playback Memories Bellmer: The Return of a Holy Grail

Welcome back to another Portrait of Pirates review. Today we are taking a close look at a character who holds a special place in the hearts of One Piece fans. What makes this release so epic is that this is actually her second P.O.P figure! Back in time, the Original Series 4 Bellmer (released in December 2005 for ¥3990) was the absolute holy grail piece of every collector. It was a notoriously rare figure that was nearly impossible to track down. Fast forward to November 2020, and MegaHouse finally answered our prayers with this Playback Memories edition for ¥12100. The P.O.P Playback Memories line has been delivering some incredible figures from the earlier arcs, and this Bellmer figure is an absolute standout. MegaHouse truly captured her tough but loving personality, bringing the badass mother of Cocoyasi Village right to our shelves.

Out of the Box: Weapons, Citrus, and Style

Taking a look at the full layout, Bellmer comes with a solid set of accessories that allow for some great display variations. Alongside the main figure, we get her signature long rifle, featuring some fantastic wood grain textures and metallic silver accents. There is also an alternate right arm, a perfectly sculpted little orange, and three individual cigarettes. It is always great to see figures that give you exactly what you need to recreate iconic moments without cluttering the box with unnecessary parts.

Sculpt and Paint: Capturing the Attitude

The aesthetic execution on this One Piece Portrait of Pirates figure is incredibly clean. Her face sculpt is spot-on, featuring those sharp blue eyes and that trademark confident smirk holding a cigarette. The hair texturing is specifically impressive, perfectly recreating her unique undercut and short reddish-brown ponytail.

Her outfit is deceptively simple but beautifully painted. She is rocking her light teal, short-sleeved plaid shirt with the word MACE printed across the chest. The folds in the fabric make it look natural, while her tight dark blue pants feature some excellent shading that highlights the sculpt work. Down to her feet, the simple brown sandals expose nicely detailed toes, completing her classic laid-back but ready-for-action look.

Dynamic Display Options

What makes this P.O.P Playback Memories Bellmer figure so fun to review is the swapping potential. With the default setup, you can have her resting her left hand on her hip while she casually balances that heavy rifle over her right shoulder. It perfectly radiates her intimidating, protective energy.

If you want a softer look, you can switch out the right arm for the alternate piece. This allows her to extend her hand forward, offering up the vibrant orange. In this pose, she supports the rifle across her shoulders with her left hand. It is a brilliant touch that pays tribute to her tangerine orchard and her deep connection to her family.

The Base Design

MegaHouse went with a bright, eye-catching design for the base. It is a solid, octagonal piece cast in a vibrant yellow-orange color. The printing on the base features a custom red emblem with two crossed rifles sitting behind a sliced orange, finished with a classic banner bearing the name Bellmer and the P.O.P Playback Memories logo. It is a sturdy base with four solid pegs that keep her standing tall and secure.

Final Thoughts

This Bellmer figure is a fantastic addition to the Portrait of Pirates lineup. For anyone who missed out on that elusive 2005 release, the Playback Memories series continues to breathe life into classic characters with modern sculpting techniques and flawless paint applications. Whether you pose her ready for a fight with her rifle or offering up a fresh orange, she brings a massive dose of nostalgia and aesthetic appeal to any display space.
