The only release of the month is yet another BB figure, and this time, it’s the seductive CP9 agent Kalifa stepping into the spotlight. Megahouse knows exactly how to cash in on certain character traits, and here we are—another figure that’s bound to stir controversy among collectors.
Fan Service at Its Peak
Let’s be real—this figure is not about character representation; it’s about fan service at its peak. Kalifa’s pose is awkward, exaggerated, and downright unflattering. While the P.O.P line has often taken liberties with the BB series, this one goes beyond and borders on vulgar rather than sensual. I hate to say it, but she looks more like a roast chicken than the deadly, composed assassin we remember from CP9.
Craftsmanship and Detail
Despite the bizarre pose, the craftsmanship is undeniably high. The sculpting work is precise, with excellent proportions (which is more than we can say for the recently released Boa Hancock Ver.BB_SP). The paint job is flawless, and her facial details are among the best in the BB lineup. The combination of sharp glasses, elegantly styled long blonde hair, and a confident smirk gives us a glimpse of the Kalifa we know and love.
BB Line’s Bigger Problem
This release raises the bigger problem with the BB line—it has strayed too far from what makes One Piece figures great. Collectors used to chase dynamic, character-accurate statues that captured the adventure, intensity, and personality of One Piece. Now? It feels like Megahouse is prioritizing fan service over substance, leaving dedicated fans frustrated.
Verdict
If you’re into provocative, over-the-top poses, you might enjoy this release. But for collectors who want figures that honor the spirit of One Piece, this is just another missed opportunity. Hopefully, Megahouse will shift focus back to iconic character moments and dynamic poses, rather than figures that feel like cash grabs with minimal artistic integrity.
