CB of Yamato and Uta, BUT...

A few weeks ago, Megahouse announced a child (CB?) Yamato figure, and in the days that followed, a child (CB?) Uta version was also revealed. Unfortunately, these two figures will not be a part of our beloved P.O.P series, but rather belong to the GEM line, a figure label that encompasses various anime franchises.

Okay, but what's the problem?

There doesn't seem to be a problem... EXCEPT that as dedicated P.O.P figure collectors for almost 20 years, we believe we should have priority access to these figures. After all, we already have our CB series that includes the child versions of some One Piece characters. It feels like a betrayal to see these new figures being released in a different series. We rarely receive CB releases, so it's disappointing to see new characters, which many collectors would be excited to add to their collections, being made by the same manufacturer but released elsewhere.

But can't you just buy them and add them to your collection?

I believe the goal of this approach is to capture the interest of P.O.P fans in other series, specifically the GEM label. The P.O.P series is incredibly popular, with thousands of collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. We all know that the Portrait of Pirates figures are the most sought-after One Piece figure collection due to their premium quality and wide range of characters. Personally, I chose this series because it offered all the characters I wanted in the same scale and quality when building my One Piece figure collection.

Therefore, P.O.P fans are discerning and loyal to the brand. Megahouse simply wants to introduce this dedicated fan base to their other lines, which, although they may sell well, likely have lower popularity compared to One Piece figures. And their solution? Introducing One Piece exclusives to the GEM series, such as Yamato and Uta. It seems like a good choice!

I'm not here to discourage anyone from buying them. Personally, I'm considering getting them as well. However, it leaves a bittersweet feeling because we also wish to have a younger Yamato with an official CB series designation on its box.

Yamato - GEM / Release date: 10/2023
